Frequently Asked Questions
Do you offer trial lessons?
Yes, we do! Please message us on Whatsapp to schedule your trial lesson for any of our classes.
Do I pay for the trial lesson?
NO. It is FREE. You can take a trial lesson without paying a rupee.
What ages do you teach?
We teach students from 6 to … no limit. Age, after all, is only important if you're cheese or a wine.
What courses do you offer?
We offer classes in Piano (classical, and contemporary), Western Vocals, Ukulele, Drums, Musical Theatre, Music Theory, and Music Production.
I'm interested in starting music lessons, which instrument is right for me?
What’s more important is that it’s the instrument you want to play. If you don’t have a favourite instrument, then try your hand at whatever instrument you enjoy listening to the most.
What will I learn during lessons?
Our goal as teachers is to help you achieve your musical goals, whether that’s to sing your favourite song, pass a music exam, or learn how to play piano like Mozart.
You’ll learn new musical concepts and techniques by playing your favourite songs, and get feedback from your teacher about your progress. After some initial groundwork is established, you’ll start developing your skills and confidence further.
How long is one lesson?
One lesson is 50-60 minutes long.
How often are lessons held?
It depends on you. We suggest you start with once a week, and increase this to two or more if you’d like.
What if you miss a class?
We don’t charge you for a missed class, but do encourage the student and teacher to find an alternate time within the month to schedule a makeup class.
How long will it take me to learn an instrument?
A lot depends on how much time you have to work at the instrument. With regular practice, it should take you within 3 months to learn the basics, such as simple melodies and chords.
Most of our students take classes on a long-term basis because they want to keep improving, and because they find the classes fun!
Keep in mind that learning an instrument is all about persistence! There’s no better feeling than finally being able to play or sing something that once seemed impossible.
What if I start classes and do not like the instrument?
No problem! After consulting with their teacher, students are free to switch their instrument if needed. We’re happy to offer the student free trial classes with any other instrument(s) of their choice.
How do I pay for my music classes?
Classes are paid by the month, at the beginning of each month.
Do I need my own instrument or do you have instruments available for me to use?
Students who do not own an instrument are welcome to use Yellow Brick Studio’s instruments to practice. Our rooms are stocked with everything you need for lessons, including full drum kits with pads, digital pianos, acoustic guitars, and more.
However, it would be helpful if you had an instrument available for daily practice.
I'm an adult. Is it too late for me to learn a new instrument?
It’s never too late to learn! With a good attitude and a little patience, you’ll be playing music in no time.
I have never taken a singing lesson before. What happens in a lesson?
Based on your individual interests, goals and music you like, lessons will be tailored to help you improve. You’ll also come to understand your voice better and identify aspects of your voice that need more attention so your at-home practicing is more productive.
With guidance from your vocal coach, you’ll learn and practice vocal exercises and breathing exercises. Then, you’ll move onto singing songs you love, while applying the techniques you learned in exercises to whatever you’re singing.
What's the right age to start my child with music lessons?
We find that 6 is a good age to begin lessons, as kids this age have the patience and focus needed to pursue music.
